Pantai Inn

We LOVED this inn where we recently spent Christmas with our daughter who lives in SD. It is somewhat funky with Indonesian inspired decor and a bit of a retro vibe. But that is part of the charm. We had a two BR suite facing the ocean. It hsd a working fireplace great for a rainy Christmas eve. The beds and linens were top notch. Smart TVs for watching movies. It had a full kitchen. There is a full breakfast included and they make cookies in the afternoon. The bar in the courtyard offers libations in front of the fire pit. . We walked to everything we needed in La Jolla cove that is just up the hill. The staff is so accommodating and sweet and do the extras that make you feel truly welcome. Parking is extra but you can find street parking if that matters. If you want fancy upscale and modern...probably not your vibe. If you want a view that won't quit with fabulous staff that is close to everything in La Jolla, Pantai is for you. I cannot tell you how it felt to wake up on Christmas to a bright blue sky and sparkling sea. It restored our souls.

We still can’t believe the views from our room! Super clean and comfortable. Perfect location- we walked everywhere. Breakfast was solid. The tea and coffee service and fresh baked cookies were a hit. We watched the seals at Children’s Pool from our balcony.

Stayed 3 nights in room 324. What a charming, clean, delightful space. The bathroom is tiny, but the room is very spacious. There is a rooftop with couches, umbrellas, and a fireplace where u can watch the birds and listen to the waves. Positioned perfectly for strolling around La Jolla. The staff was courteous and helpful, There was one man in the evening, on the phone with an AirPod in, who took his time assisting me, which was the only slightly negative experience. They washed and folded our laundry, and the breakfast was a plus. If you bring a car, you do have to pay for parking but it is conveniently close. Be mindful that there are no elevators, only stairs.

Very nice and cool location right next to the ocean and the sealions. Very nice to walk along the beachfront. Also close to "citylife". Parking 25usd. Breakfast buffet nice and served by very polite crew. Nice fruitpunch available in lobby area.

Incredible stay with my family of 6 in the 3 bedroom suite. Perfect location, amazing staff and the beds were super comfy! Thank you so much Baca and Edwin for making our trip great! Baca became part of the family and was always a welcoming face ready to whip us up something yummy! We loved having drinks on the patio and watching sunset from the rooftop. We appreciated the golf cart rides up the hill on a hot day to attend a wedding.

Very pretty, nice rooms with kitchens. A pack n play was available but it's more of a playyard (Dream on Me brand). They can give you an extra blanket to pad the hard bottom - I put my own pack n play sheet over both before attaching it.

Beautiful view!!! Hotel was wonderful with Bali style hidden little alcoves. Location was perfect for seeing Sealions. Free breakfast was tasty with breads, oatmeal, hot and cold dishes.

A fantastic experience overall, I would recommend this location to anyone looking for a place to stay in La Jolla! Pros -incredibly friendly staff: everyone that we interacted with was kind and helpful. We never had to go searching for staff, they were always around -free breakfast: this was the biggest perk for our entire family. The breakfast was fresh and rotated daily, this saved us time and money -daily cookies: a nice afternoon pick me up! We looked forward to seeing what the daily flavor would be -free water/soda/coffee/tea: this was incredibly helpful and helped us stay hydrated on our trip -oceanfront access/views: the location of the Pantai Inn is absolutely perfect. You have oceanfront views and an easy walk to on the shore without dealing with crowds. We were able to watch the sunset at night and they also have a rooftop area if your room doesn’t have a direct ocean view -parking: options for on-site parking! Cons: -booking system: the booking system is outdated and can be finicky when scheduling your trip. We had to wait a few hours before scheduling our second room because I hit the back button and the room no longer showed as available. Also, when we showed up to check in the system showed that someone from our party had called and modified our reservation dates. No one from our party had called so this was an error within the system and I never received an email saying that the dates had been changed. Thankfully it was off-season and they could rebook us but this could have been very problematic -Facilities: some amenities are not present (like a gym) and we noted some hard water buildup around bathroom faucets. Nothing major but a few small items in each of our rooms Overall I would absolutely stay here again over the other larger hotels. Pantai Inn offers the perfect combination of a boutique personalized hotel with the amenities and location of a place twice as expensive. If you’re debating booking here you should do it, you won’t regret it!
